A percentage would be a number about this checker rather than about any employer's system, so what you get instead is the requirement your wording already answers and the one it does not.

This check, in your browser

  • Reads your pasted text the way a parser would. It tells you whether the standard headings are there and whether the content comes through as readable text.
  • Holds the posting's requirements against your wording and lists what is answered, what is close, and what has no evidence yet.

What an ATS check can and cannot tell you

Do you give my resume an ATS score?
No. A universal match score measures the scoring tool, not any employer's real system. You get the specific requirements your wording does and does not answer instead of a percentage.
Does this check my PDF's layout?
No. This is a text check: your resume text against the posting, and whether that text reads cleanly with the standard headings present. File checks run separately, on the PDF or DOCX we render when you export.
What does an applicant tracking system actually do with my file?
It stores the application and extracts text from the file so recruiters can search and review it. When the text is not really text, or cannot be read out cleanly, the person reviewing the parsed profile sees a worse version of you. Those are the failure modes worth checking; how any one system is configured is something nobody outside that employer can see.
Can you guarantee I pass an employer's ATS?
No, and neither can anyone honest. Systems differ by vendor and configuration. We say ATS-friendly, parse-checked, and format-checked, never ATS-proof.
